Diabetes is a major public health, social and economic problem throughout Southern California and the country. Vital care information and several effective interventions are available to prevent diabetes and its complications, but may be complex and challenging, and are not often readily available in other languages or catered to ethnicity groups. This appears to be true in all states and across different health care systems. Major barriers to deliver effective interventions are: societal; the health care system; the health care provider; and the individual.
LDA has assembled various practitioners with expertise to provide information on the public health, economic, and social affects of diabetes and the LDA's program development.
La diabetes es un problema público importante de la salud, social y económico en California meridional y el país. La información vital del cuidado y varias intervenciones eficaces están disponibles prevenir la diabetes y sus complicaciones, pero pueden ser complejas y desafiadoras, y no son a menudo fácilmente disponibles en otras idiomas ni se abastecen a los grupos de la pertenencia étnica. Esto aparece ser verdad en todos los estados y a través de diversos sistemas sanitarios. Las barreras importantes para entregar intervenciones eficaces son: social; el sistema sanitario; el proveedor de asistencia sanitaria; y el individuo.

Hello- this is a personal invite for our 4th Annual Toy Giveaway to needy families in the city of Montebello and surrounding communities. Please join us in distributing toys to needy children this Christmas at our Montebello office (see attached flyer) on Friday Dec. 19 from 3 to 7pm. Local elected officials and community leaders will be on hand to help distribute toys to pre-registered families. Also, please have any prospective family head of household call our office at (323) 837-9869 to get on the distribution list.
The LDA has over 2000 toys and will distribute them to needy families from Montebello, East LA, Boyle Heights, Commerce, Bell Gardens, and other local communities. We will also distribute some to several domestic violenceemergency shelters and orphanages in the Tijuana area.
