LDA advocating to improve access to medicines and affordability.

The Latino Diabetes Association (LDA) has been at the forefront of advocating for improved access to medicines and greater affordability. For several years, LDA’s leadership has engaged with members of Congress through in-person and virtual meetings, formal letters, emails, and social media to urge legislative action to reduce the cost of medicines for vulnerable populations, including seniors and people with health conditions or impairments. Our primary focus has been on urging Congress to reform the business practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) and the way that these middlemen profit off of patients in need and keep the costs of medicines artificially high.

We’ve made great progress in encouraging PBM reforms and we’re hopeful Congress will take bipartisan action to lower the cost of medicines before the end of 2024.
